Thank you for viewing the website of Skipton & Ripon Conservative Association.With such a large constituency (over 900 sq miles) it gives us an opportunity to publicise events and information without having to use the print media, and enables all constituents whether subscribing members or not, to be able to contact their MP, County, District or Borough councillor or the Association officers.

FORTHCOMING EVENTS

The President's Dinner on Friday 06 July is promising to be a memorable evening with Mr Alan Duncan MP as the main speaker. The Coniston Hotel has played host to our formal dinners on many occasions and never fails to deliver a marvellous evening, with fine food and a picturesque location. Tickets, which will be limited, are available at £40 from the Association Office.

RECENT ELECTIONS

Craven District Council elections at the beginning in May resulted in a Conservative gain in Ingleton and Clapham, as David Ireton retained the seat, but as a Conservative rather than an Independent. Unfortunately Helen Firth's seat in Hellifield and Long Preston went to an Independent, and Pam Hesletine and Paul Whitaker lost their Skipton seats. All the councillors had given many years of excellent service to their wards, and the Association acknowledges their contribution with gratitude. Craven Conservatives still hold overall control of the council.

In Harrogate we were very disappointed to lose Veronica Hawkesworth's seat  in Nidd Valley, but welcome Stanley Lumley as a Conservative councillor in Pateley Bridge, after he won the seat from the LibDems. Conservatives have overall control on Harrogate Borough Council.

NATIONAL APPEAL & SUPPORT FOR YOUR LOCAL ASSOCIATION

Members of the Association may periodically receive appeals for donations from the party nationally (CCHQ)

Should you decide to respond to these appeals we would ask you to include a request with your donation that the amount be credited to Skipton and Ripon Campaign Subscription. In this way you will not only be helping the party nationally and regionally, but you will be greatly assisting S&RCCA so more of our locally raised funds can then be spent on local campaigns.

If you join Team 2000 please ask that 50% of your donation be credited to Skipton & Ripon.
